Senior Pastor – Gene Jones
Gene Jones is the lead elder at The Refuge.
Gene and his wife Sharon live in Cleburne, TX. Married for 28 years, they are
blessed with two wonderful daughters (married to two outstanding, godly
sons-in-law) and with four highly superior grandchildren. Gene is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and holds an MDiv degree. He also has a BBA degree from Midwestern State University and has graduate studies toward an MBA from the University of North Texas.
In addition to leading several churches he has also been a
bi-vocational minister, business owner and on the
management teams of several companies. He has also
served as a corporate chaplain. He continues to have an
interest in corporate chaplaincy and in assisting business
owners to develop true “Kingdom” businesses. He is keenly
aware of the stresses of keeping God first while putting in
a 60 hour work week, raising a family, being involved at
church and dealing with the many “surprises” of life.
It was in his last year at the Seminary that he was filled with the Holy Spirit. He never forgot his Baptist roots but, primarily through the teaching of John Wimber of The Vineyard, built on to the sound doctrinal foundation he already had. Gene is not just a teacher of the Word, but loves to teach
believers how to “hear” God and to operate in the giftings of the Holy Spirit. Through the years he has trained many people, some of whom are now in full time ministry.
Youth Pastor – Samuel Shebesta
A word from our Youth Pastor…….
I’m 33yr old and grew up in Fort Worth, Cleburne and Burleson. In 2004 I graduated from Burleson high school. In 2010 I met the love of my life (the girl next door, yes we were neighbors) and got married to Bianca Shebesta. I have two boys Ezra 6 and Ezekiel 3.
In 2009 I couldn’t go to any meeting or church without someone stopping me and prophesying to me how I had authority with youth and how youth would look up to me and seek council from me. So in 2010 me and my wife stepped into leadership as youth pastors and began to bring youth along with us as we passionately pursue God and equip them to do the works of the ministry.
My mission for the youth:
Follow Jesus and bring youth along while passionately seeking his face to be transformed from glory to glory so heaven can be released on earth as it is in heaven.
Children’s Pastor – Teresa McDaniel
A Word from our Children’s Pastor……
A little bit about me, my name actually means God’s harvester and from a very young age, I desired to serve God with all of my heart. I grew up in south Fort Worth and the Burleson/Cleburne area in a loving Christian home. After graduating high school, I felt God calling me to ministry and missions. I attended Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Tyler, TX where I received my discipleship training and was sent to Thailand to minister to kids and youth. After returning from YWAM, I had an even greater desire to know my Lord and Savior, so I moved to Kansas City, MO and took an internship at the International House of Prayer (IHOP) where I became part of the “night watch” called Fire in the Night. A group of young people interceding for our Nation and worshipping the King of Kings during the wee hours of the night from midnight – 6 am. My time at IHOP was life changing; I developed an intimate personal relationship with Jesus, while cultivating a lifestyle of prayer, and growing in the knowledge of God. I returned to Dallas, TX where I accepted a leadership role with Masters Commission, which gave me hands-on ministry experience, and education that prepared me to be in church leadership. Around this time, I met my now husband (my greatest support and my rock) Jason while working as a server at On the Border. We married when I was 22 and he was 28, we faced several challenges as most young couples do and then some. God blessed us with a now 10 year-old beautiful girl we named Isla. During this time, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management and I have since worked for the Federal Government for the last 10 years. As part of my story, it’s important to mention that I stepped away from the Lord, turned my back against Him, and stopped attending church. However, throughout this time of disobedience, God’s hand was always watching over us and He showed me His unconditional love and faithfulness as He gently brought me back to His loving arms. Jesus loved me too much to leave me in my filth and He softened my heart and brought me to repentance. I heard a message on the radio of the Lord returning soon and I knew that it was time for a rededication of my life to God. That’s about the time I found The Refuge Church, and what a blessing it has been. I have a new passion to serve the Lord, to see the lost saved, and to be conformed day by day into the image of Jesus Christ. I have been blessed to assume the role of Children’s Pastor and I am a testament to God’s truth, “that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
